Neuralink Brain Chip Implant

Neuralink Brain Chip Implant is an implantable brain-computer interface (BCI) device made by Elon Musk's startup Neuralink, which was founded in 2016. The BCI was first introduced in August 2020 when Musk showed a live demo of the chip measuring brain activity inside pigs. The device would gain notorious fame in April 2021 when the news was shared that a monkey had been implanted with the device, demonstrated in a video showing the animal playing Pong on a computer screen handsfree (notably spawning the Neuralink Monkey meme). In late January 2024, the company and its product again went viral after it was announced that the chip was implanted in a human brain for the first time. This event similarly spawned memes as people created parody videos and images imagining the person who had a chip implanted in their brain and its consequences.

Gojo Figure Incident

The Gojo Figure Incident refers to a shock video uploaded in mid-January 2024 by TikToker Azzy (@azulliee_), captioned "Gojo after Toji jumped him colorized." The clip of a Gojo action figure became the subject of memes and reactions over the following days, with many expressing shock and disgust over the video, earning it the name "The Gojo Figure Incident." The TikToker's account was deleted and the video was removed following its virality, although they purportedly opened a new account and reuploaded the video a few days later.

Blinding Stew

Blinding Stew refers to a meme that was popularized in early 2024 after X / Twitter user @truewagner posted a photo of a flyer asking for parenting advice in which all the responses jokingly recommended that the child be fed "stew that blinds her for a day." More memes about "1 Day Blinding Stew" or "blinding soup" spread soon after. The concept of a stew causing a temporary blinding effect may be a reference to "Suspicious Stew," an item in the video game Minecraft.

2024 Texas Border Crisis

The 2024 Texas Border Crisis refers to a standoff between Republican governors with the U.S. federal government over immigration on the Texas border. In January 2024 the American Supreme Court sided with the Biden Administration against Texas Governor Greg Abbott when it vacated a lower court’s ruling that prevented Border Patrol agents from cutting the razor wire to apprehend people who had crossed the river. Abbott continued to publicly challenge the ruling, garnering the support of 25 Republican governors and instigating a series of debates on the internet. His supporters also started to share I Stand With Texas messages on social media, using memes, parody videos, comedy skits and other memetic formats as a show of protest.
