The video was uploaded in September 2021 and garnered viral spread over the following years, inspiring memes referencing it, including a viral 2025 engagement bait post spelling out the phrase with images as "sucky tan ducky dew."

The Tunnel Effect is a catchphrase used in a series of memes referencing a particular special ability from a character in the Sakamoto Days manga series. Since early June 2025, the phrase has been referenced in memes, parodies and edits of other prominent manga series using the power, especially Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) characters like Satoru Gojo and Sukuna.
