The comic tells Basca's personal story of getting groomed by a professor at her university, with Basca eventually coming to a realization of what has been happening and reporting the professor. In early July 2024, the opening panel of the comic, depicting portraits of Basca and her professor and captioned "Your Favorite Student," achieved virality as an exploitable meme format amid the wave of trauma dump comics on X.
Mama Owl or Mathmanx is a TikToker and teacher best known for her skits in which she acts out dramatic situations that often involve student trauma, playing all the roles herself. The stories are often submitted to her by fans. Mama Owl began posting in December 2021 and gained over 2.3 million followers over the next three years. In 2024, Mama Owl became the subject of trolling, criticism and memes for her content, including a skit from around August 2023 in which she acts out the assault of a trans student.
Morrigan x Spider-Man is a ship pairing between the Marvel superhero Spider-Man and the Darkstalkers character Morrigan Aensland, both characters who appear in the Marvel vs. Capcom series of fighting games. The pair have been shipped online since as early as 2016 and became the viral subjects of fan art and memes in June 2024 following the announcement of the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, which features artwork of Morrigan looking closely into Spider-Man's eyes.
The Shawty Bae Bathtub Pics and Shawty Bae Bathtub Video, also known as the Shawty Bae Bathtub Leak, refers to a leaked viral video and images of social media influencer and TikToker Shawty Bae standing naked in a bathtub. The video was a screen recording of her then-recent OnlyFans livestream. It was originally leaked by Twitter / X user @Urmom49519070 in July 2024. The Shawty Bae Bathtub clip and photos were also posted on Facebook around the same timeframe. The leak inspired numerous reactions across websites like TikTok going into the following weeks.
