Meet June's Most Mysterious Meme, Govy's 'Dream Tiger'
The latest trending memes, internet news, meme anniversaries and more from Know Your Meme this week.
No Problem! Here’s the Information About the Mercedes CLR GTR refers to a copypasta that surfaced en masse on Instagram in 2024 as it became a common Instagram Reels caption for posts on meme pages and bot accounts. The copypasta reads like an advertisement for a Mercedes CLR GTR vehicle which is not an actual Mercedes-Benz model and instead a likely misnomer for the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR or the Mercedes-Benz CLR. Many speculated that the caption was AI-generated by ChatGPT and used by bot accounts to make their content appear educational to the algorithm. In turn, the caption would deceive the Instagram algorithm which favored educational content for recommendation on the Explore page. Many of the Reels were Sigma Phonk edits.
Oh No Monkey or Planet of the Apes' "Oh No!" Monkey is an exploitable video meme template that uses a clip from the War of The Planet of The Apes 2017 film in which the character Bad Ape repeatedly says "Oh no! Nono no no no!" The clip became a viral meme on TikTok in May 2024, often used as a reaction to negative situations and POV ironic memes of people finding out they are dying after the Make-A-Wish volunteers showed up at their hospital rooms.
Govy's Dream Tiger refers to an illustration by Korean artist govy9807 depicting a tiger they stated they saw in a dream. The creature wears a monstrous black mask and has black tape imitating stripes. It was posted to X / Twitter in late May 2024 and became the subject of redraws and interpretations by other artists.
I Am the Angry Pumpkin is a copypasta based on a Plants vs. Zombies clip in which Argentinian Twitch streamer Bananirou uses a Squash to defend against a Catapult Zombie, commenting on what is happening as he does so. Originally in Spanish, the clip was translated into English and went viral in early 2024, with Bananirou's translated dialogue achieving popularity as a copypasta and meme reference.
