The Girls Are Fighting, Aren't They

This week, a little monkey named Pubert fixed someone's phone, the "it's Pride Month" meme came back into fashion, Deltarune Tomorrow came true and more.

The Girls Are Fighting is a catchphrase used to joke about people falling out with each other publicly. The phrase was popularized by a 2019 video of American singer Azealia Banks commenting on the feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B in which she says, "Whaaat? What is the tea, the girls are fighting! Nooo… the girls are fighting, why?!" The Instagram Live became a notable reaction video in subsequent years, while the phrase "the girls are fighting" came to be used to joke about former friends having public disagreements. In early June 2025, AOC notably quoted the phrase to joke about Elon Musk and Donald Trump having a public falling out, causing a resurgence in the meme.

The Elon Musk Donald Trump Breakup, also known as the Elon Musk Donald Trump Fallout, refers to a feud and falling out between United States President Donald Trump and Tesla and X owner Elon Musk regarding Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" (OBBB) Act. In late May 2025, it was reported that Musk was leaving the Trump administration after working for several months in the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.), a department started by Musk. On June 3rd, Musk made a post on X / Twitter speaking out against the OBBB act after Trump claimed Musk only had a problem with it because it would cut the electric vehicle mandate, calling it "pork-filled," and continued to criticize it over the following days, resulting in back-and-forth comments from the two. On June 5th, Musk posted a tweet claiming that Trump was named in the Epstein Files, a rumor that has spread among conspiracy theorists for years. The mudslinging between the two prominent figures quickly garnered widespread media attention and discourse online, as well as spawning memes about the situation.

Simpsons Then vs. Simpsons Now, also known as X Then vs. X Now or Mmm X / Mmm Penis, refers to a phrasal template and exploitable image macro format used in a series of memes that post-ironically mocks LGBTQ+ representation on TV shows, movies, games or anime. It often depicts a two-panel comparison, one with a character, show or company in the past, and one implying they have "turned gay" in the present, usually during Pride Month. The meme implies that the current version of the show or character is influenced by a "woke agenda" and was originally posted on Reddit in August 2022, becoming popularized as an exploitable format on Twitter / X and Instagram in the following years, especially during June's Pride Month celebrations.
