The Memes That Got Us Through Election Day

We all know what took the majority of the internet's attention this week, but there were some other memes that broke through the mold.

The Blue Friendship Bracelet Movement, also known simply as the Blue Bracelet Movement, refers to a TikTok trend of people wearing blue-colored friendship bracelets to signal that they're a "safe person" meaning that they didn't vote for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 United States Presidential Election. The movement was founded by liberal white women after Vice President Kamala Harris lost the election in November 2024. The white people at the helm of the movement believed that they needed to let people of color know that they hadn't voted "against them" and "against women." As the Blue Friendship Bracelet Movement gained traction on social media, it was also met with criticism. Critics expressed in viral reaction videos that the movement was virtue signaling.

The 4B Movement is a fringe radical feminist movement that originated in South Korea in the late 2010s. Proponents of the movement refuse to date men and have sex with them, get married and have children. The movement, which in Korea was estimated to have about 4,000 members in 2019, is a protest against South Korean patriarchic society, with its members regarding South Korean men as "irredeemable" and striving to change the society and the position of women in it rather than changing men. In 2024, following the Republican candidate Donald Trump winning the 2024 United States Presidential Election, the movement experienced a spike in interest in the country, with some women sounding calls to popularize the movement in the U.S. A later version of the movement, referred to as 6B4T, also includes abstaining from the consumption of what's perceived as sexist products and supporting fellow women who practice the movement, with 4T referring to rejecting beauty standards, religion, idol culture, and otaku culture.

Nick Fuentes Doxxing refers to the doxxing of far-right political commentator and groyper Nicholas J. Fuentes, which followed his posting of the controversial phrase, "Your body, my choice," in the aftermath of Donald Trump winning the 2024 United States Presidential Election in early November 2024. Following the doxxing and spread of Fuentes' personal information online, including his home address and phone number, a 57-year-old woman purportedly showed up at his house, with Fuentes allegedly reacting by pepper spraying her and pushing her down the stairs after she rang his doorbell.
